Ingredients

1/2 cup
all purpose flour
1/2 cup
cocoa powder
1/2 tsp
baking soda
1/8 tsp
salt

egg yolk, large
5 tbsp
sugar
1/4 cup
buttermilk
1 tbsp
canola oil
1 tsp
vanilla
1/2 tbsp
food coloring

For the filling

2 tbsp
cream cheese
1/2 cup
icing sugar
1/2 tbsp
milk

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Generously coat donut pan with baking spray. Set aside.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
  3. In another bowl, mix together the sugar, buttermilk, and egg. Stir in the canola oil, vanilla, vinegar, and food coloring.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until combined.
  5. Use a spoon to fill each donut mold 3/4 of the way full. Bake for 6-8 minutes.
  6. Allow to cool, then drizzle with cream cheese frosting.
  7. To make the cream cheese frosting, in a small bowl and using an electric mixer, beat cream cheese until smooth. Add in the powdered sugar and milk and beat until smooth. Fill a pastry bag with the corner snipped to drizzle the frosting or spread with a knife.
